Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen receives hundreds of requests for donations and sponsorships every day, but unfortunately can only choose a select few to participate in each year. Because of this, we carefully review each event or cause we are asked to sponsor to make sure it aligns with our overall mission as a company -- spreading awareness of sun safety and educating the public about the dangers of skin cancer. The Women of Influence awards recognizes women who have been instrumental in raising funds for cancer research. This event includes some well-known names as honorees – read more in today’s blog about the important work they are doing.
Tucked under the 59th Street Bridge in New York City you’ll find an architectural masterpiece, the home of Guastavino’s and the location of the 2015 Women of Influence Awards. Seven women, each considered outstanding in her individual field, will be honored on May 1. The event is hosted by the T.J. Martell Foundation and includes a silent auction and luncheon.
With between 350 and 400 people expected to attend the awards ceremony, the Foundation is grateful for its attendees who help raise money for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen is proud to include our products in the 2015 Women of Influence Awards gift bags.
“The T.J. Martell Foundation thanks Blue Lizard Sunscreen for their donation for our gift bags. We are excited to have them participate in our Third Annual Women of Influence event,” commented Ashley Morris of the T.J. Martell Foundation. Blue Lizard has also donated sunscreen to the Foundation’s Bonarroo Music Festival in the past. Other Women of Influence gift bag donors include eos, My Beauty Tea, StriVectin and TheraPearl, and Blue Lizard is honored to be among these high-quality brands.
Blue Lizard is always looking for opportunities to remind people of the importance of practicing sun safety. Being a part of an event such as this is a great opportunity to spread awareness of our brand and our mission, which is to educate the public on the dangers of sun exposure and skin cancer. Melanoma is considered the deadliest type of skin cancer, striking more than 75,000 people each year. It is the fifth most frequently diagnosed type of cancer in men and the seventh in women. As one of the music industry’s largest foundations that funds medical research focused on finding cures for cancer, as well as AIDS, the T. J. Martell Foundation aligns well with Blue Lizard’s mission. The Foundation sources and supports early-stage research projects aimed at developing more effective clinical treatments for patients that otherwise might not be funded.
This year's honorees include national radio personality, author and philanthropist Delilah; Wayne Chapman Chair at Sloan Memorial; Dr. Jimmie C. Holland, M.D.; Natalie Morales, national news anchor and co-host of NBC's The TODAY Show; Latonya Crisp-Sauray, the third highest ranking officer in New York City's Transit Union Local 100; Designer Elaine Turner; StriVectin Operating CEO, JuE Wong; and Kelli Turner, executive vice president and CFOof SESAC. All of the honorees represent a diverse and exciting group of female leaders in their chosen industry including media, medicine, health, government and entertainment. The event will be hosted by popular radio personality Robin Quivers.
"I am extremely excited about our third annual Women of Influence Awards. The event brings together such amazing women to bond and learn about healthy living, cancer awareness and prevention, and to celebrate women’s achievements," said Laura Heatherly, CEO of the T.J. Martell Foundation.
